In this section I will show you how to create
a clipping mask in Illustrator

I started of by by creating some text and a group of circles.
I then right clicked the text and selected "Create outlines".
Right click again and choose "Ungroup"
Now go go to object/ Compound Path/ Make.
Now move the text over the top of the circles -
(making sure the text is over and not under the circles)
.
Right click and drag over both the circles and the text.
Right click and select "Make Clipping Mask".
And here is the finishing result.
